Mtoto wa familia tajiri, akiwa kijana aliacha mali yake yote akawa mkaapweke hadi alipojiunga na Wabenedikto Wakamaldoli.
Baada ya kuteuliwa kuwa askofu aliendelea kushika sawasawa maisha ya kimonaki akawa rafiki wa Fransisko wa Asizi.
Tangu kale huheshimiwa kama mtakatifu.
